Vintage, Antique & Classic Cars

With all 3 terms often being confused for referring to the same sort of vehicle, the criteria that sets ‘Vintage’, ‘Antique’ and ‘Classic’ vehicles apart are the model year/age and historic status. The oldest of the three categories is Vintage (>90 years old), followed by Antique (>45 years old) and Classic (>20 years old).

LUXURY CARS

In relation to your average vehicle, luxury cars provide a higher standard when it comes to comfort, equipment, amenities, performance and overall status. The term reflects both higher quality specifications on the car but also its manufacturer’s brand image.

SUPERCARS & HYPERCARS

Elevated elements such as prestige, technology and price are what distinguish high-performance supercars above sportscars. In the 2000s, the term ‘hypercar’ came into use, referring to the highest performing supercars. What separates them is the speed they are capable of. Supercars usually have over 500 horsepower, whereas hypercars average at 1000.

ELECTRIC CARS

As vehicles that are run at least partially on electricity, unlike their gasoline and diesel fuelled counterparts, electric cars possess an electric motor powered by electricity from either batteries or a fuel cell. The first mass-produced, purpose-built modern electric car was released in 1996.
