Tool Methodology:

This tool helps users visualize and determine the best US states for pets, based on the analysis of a variety of lifestyle factors per state, such as the number of pet shelters, pet-friendly restaurants, pets accounts on social media, and the average amount spent on pet products.

Each value was given a ranking for different data points, which were then totalled up to reveal the overall ranking column.

Categories:

Social Media Pages: amount of pet accounts on Twitter, per state.

Pet Product Sales: average order value per state in the last year.

Pet Shelters: number of animal shelters, animal rescues, and animal welfare organizations in each state.

Pet Ownership: percentage of pet owners per state.

Dog-Friendly Eateries: number of dog-friendly restaurants and bars, coffeehouses, wineries, breweries, and brewpubs per 100,000 people in each state.

The data that powers the tool was collected from a variety of sources including twitter.com, BIXBI.com sales data, worldpopulationreview.com, petfinder.com and petfriendlyrestaurants.com.
