This tool enables users to visualise the best UK cities for running and outdoor exercise, throughout
lockdown and beyond. The interactive table allows users to select a city within the UK and see how
each compares and ranks against others, based on a range of data sources and factors.
Overall: Each value was given a ranking for each different data point,
which were then totalled up to reveal the overall ranking score.
Green Space: This is the total number of public parks and gardens in
each city, based on Catchment Based Approach data.
Traffic: This is the average traffic build up in miles, according to
official government data.
Pollution: This refers to UK local and regional estimates of carbon
dioxide emissions in the atmosphere of each area, using data from The Department for Business,
Energy, and Industrial Strategy.
Running Events: This refers to the total number of running and outdoor
exercise events listed on eventbrite.com, analysed on 25th November 2020.
Crime Rate: The official crime rate data was taken from all relevant
UK government bodies. The number refers to all crime, excluding fraud, in each city.
